This is a full/part-time role working (insert hours) hours per week (Manager to amend as appropriate)
Our Head Gardeners are vital in developing the grounds of our sites. You will find imaginative ways of bringing to life the stories they tell, helping visitors of all ages to make new discoveries. Managing an enthusiastic, dedicated team of gardeners and volunteers, you’ll also play an integral part in our nationwide gardens team, helping to train and inspire the gardening talent of the future.
You will have a creative eye, high-quality garden management experience, excellent plant knowledge and horticultural skills; an appreciation for the significance of historic designed landscapes; and a talent for leadership. You’ll know how to ensure visitors enjoy their day out – from sharing your gardening knowledge, to ensuring their health and safety. Project management, ICT and budgeting skills are also a must for this role.
This is a physically demanding role and involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, which requires a good level of fitness and stamina. You will regularly carry out tasks such as lifting, reaching, and stretching, and will be required to operate gardening equipment and machinery.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a preplacement questionnaire (PPQ) and your offer will be contingent on this.
